Prospective overseas Filipino workers may have to be wary of 11 agencies that were slapped charges for violating recruitment laws, the Philippine Overseas Employment Adminiistration said Monday.

In a Twitter post, POEA head Hans Leo Cacdac said the violations were found during a "salvo inspection" at the Gedisco Center in Ermita, Manila.

Charged were:

  1.     NRS Placement Inc.
  2.     MS Brains International Manpower Services
  3.     M & P Employment Inc.
  4.     Creative Artist Placement Services Inc.
  5.     Care International Placement Corp.
  6.     Bionic Manpower Services
  7.     Femex Recruitment Agency
  8.     Rejoice Employment Agency
  9.     Arjoy's Human Resources Management
  10.     Gold & Green Manpower Management
  11.     Rotana International Manpower

Cacdac said the POEA was accompanied by the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

"May reputasyon bilang lungga ng mga pasaway na recruitment agency at foreigner na nagsasagawa ng recruitment ang Gedisco Center. Kaya't nararapat lamang na puntahan ito ng POEA at PNP," he added.

Cacdac said Mind Resources Corp. was caught recruiting workers even if the POEA canceled its license since October 2014. At the second floor of Gedisco Center was a Lebanese national, Zein Hussein, conducting recruitment. At the fourth floor was clerk Haydee Mamolindas.

He said the violations included:

  •     failure to post an organizational chart in the office
  •     no BIR-authorized receipts
  •     trainees who are not properly registered
  •     offices not properly registered
  •     lack of anti-illegal recruitment posters
  •     job vacancies posted but lacking key information
  •     presence of foreigners

Cacdac said the POEA adjudication office also endorsed the 11 agencies to the Department of Justice's Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.

He said the POEA may conduct more salvo inspections at Gedisco Center in the future. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
